Seahawks Win Ugly; Get a Late Drive to Top Cowboys 13-12

Seattle Seahawks at Dallas Cowboys

It may have taken until the halfway part of the season, but finally the Seahawks are back to .500.

Hawks QB Russell Wilson and the offense was just good enough, throwing a touchdown and leading the Hawks on a late drive as they topped the Dallas Cowboys 13-12 Sunday.

Down 12-10, Seattle went 17 plays to drive 79 yards in 5 minutes, 35 seconds before kicking the game-winning 24-yard field goal with 1:06 remaining.

Wilson, who was 19 of 30 for 210 yards, started the winning drive by finding tight end Jimmy Graham, who had game highs of seven catches for 75 yards, on third down.

Later facing third-and-7, Wilson beat Barry Church to the corner and dived for the first down to allow Seattle to run more clock.

In the game-winning drive Wilson converted three third downs, the last of which came on a scramble that helped run the clock before Steven Hauschka’s 24-yard field goal.

Following the field goal, Cowboys QB Matt Cassel was sacked by Bruce Irvin on third down and went down again on what appeared to be the final play of the game.

Instead, because of a false start, Dallas got one more shot on fourth-and-16 with 12 seconds remaining. Cassel’s heave along the sideline was broken up.

The third Cowboys starting QB of the season threw for less than 100 yards, as he went just 13 of 25 for 97 yards. Tony Romo is out with a broken collarbone and Brandon Weeden was pulled after going 0-3 as a starter.

In the end it wasn’t the prettiest win by far of the year for the now 4-4 Seahawks, but the way that 2015 has played out to this point, they will take it.

They now go into the bye week and then have a monster game on November 15th at home against the Cardinals, who trailed at one point 20-7 Sunday in Cleveland but rallied for a win 34-20.
