When the Seattle Seahawks line up defensively, they will be facing the most dangerous passing attack in NFL history. Peyton Manning’s 55 touchdowns during 16 regular season games ranks as a league record along with his 5,477 yards passing. Lets not forget the fact that Manning will be passing to Wes Welker, Eric Decker, Demaryious Thomas, and Julius Thomas. Four players that blew the tops off of coverages but also had success across the middle and underneath.
However, how can a man who lost two out of the three times to the Seahawks talk about how a nickel defense he could not beat when it counted? San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick said Manning and his weapons should pick apart the Legion of Boom’s nickel package.
“Playmakers Denver has on offense are better than some of the guys in [Seattle’s] nickel defense. Opportunity for a lot of big plays,” Kaepernick said. “If the Broncos can get [the Seahawks’] nickel defense out there, they’ll have some great matchups.”
Even if Manning does shred the defense, Kaepernick’s comment is senseless because he had little luck picking apart Seattle’s defense. Kaepernick’s change of pace was running after his first read. By no means will this discourage the most confident defense in the game.
