Seattle Goes With Pure Pass Rusher in 1st Round

In the first surprise of the draft the Seattle Seahawks reach for Bruce Irvin from West Virginia. Coach Pete Carroll has no fear in drafting players with off field red flags. Irvin has plenty of red flags, so he’s going to a place with a coach that looks past things. Most mocks had Irvin going in the 2nd round or later because of red flags. Irvin Will get is chance to shine.

  • The best pure pass rusher in the draft
  • Good speed and burst of the line closing speed
  • In limited time had 22.5 sacks in two years

  • Undersized does not play the run at all
  • Not very good at the point of attack
  • Will jump offsides must cut this down
  • Must get bigger physically too lean for a long NFL career

Let’s hope he is our next Rufus Porter! I remember the excitement Rufus could instill in the defense. It took everyone up a notch performance wise. John Elway did not like playing against Rufus at all. I remember our Crowd all yelling “Rufus!” “Rufus!”

After watching tape of our new rusher and comparing that to Rufus they could easily have similar results. Biggest difference is Bruce Irvin is bigger and faster.

Can you believe a 6-3 243 pound pass rusher that can run 4.43? Believe it baby!

  2. Kenny says:

I agree Kelly, I hope this dude becomes the next Rufus Porter and exceeds all that Rufus did for us! It looks like Pete is building a top 5 defense here in Seattle. I want the Seattle Defense to be the best Defense in the NFC!
