Lynch Fined $10K; Two Other Teammates Docked By NFL

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has been fined $10,000 for a second violation of the the NFL’s uniform policy, a league spokesman confirmed on Friday.

Specifically, Lynch’s cleats were adorned with a Skittles pattern for last Saturday’s 19-17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Earlier this month, Lynch was fined $5,000 for wearing lime-green socks in a Monday Night Football game win over the St. Louis Rams.

Before taxes, Lynch’s $2.14 million base salary in 2011 is comprised of weekly game checks worth $125,882 apiece. Barring a contract extension or being designated with the franchise tag by the Seahawks, the 25-year-old Lynch will be an unrestricted free agent in March.

Lynch ranks seventh in the NFL with 1,118 yards and is tied for third with 12 rushing touchdowns this season.

In addition to Lynch’s uniform violation, Seahawks fifth-round cornerback Richard Sherman was fined $15,000 for his horse collar tackle on 49ers running back Frank Gore. As part of his four-year, $2.222 million rookie contract, Sherman is earning $375,000 in base salary this season, which is comprised of 17 game checks worth $22,059.

Seahawks fullback Michael Robinson was not fined after he was flagged for a fourth quarter unnecessary roughness penalty, but linebacker Adrian Moten was fined $7,500 for his hit on that same play. Robinson and Moten unnecessarily hit 49ers kick returner Kyle Williams, who had slipped and was deemed to have given himself up on the play. Williams sustained a concussion on the hit and is unlikely to play in the regular season finale against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. Like Sherman, Moten is earning $22,059 per week as part of his $375,000 base salary.
