Sunday’s Big Fantasy Matchups for 49’ers-Hawks

49ers RB Frank Gore vs. Seahawks run defense

Gore has produced some big games against the Seahawks in the past. In his last five games against Seattle, Gore has 715 yards from scrimmage (143.0 per game), including 568 rushing yards (113.6 per game). The Seahawks’ run defense is 21st in the league, but their 3.9 yards allowed per rush is 11th best in the league. Gore only tallied 61 yards on 19 carries in the teams’ first matchup this season, but he scored and caught five passes for 38 yards.

49ers WR Isaac Bruce vs. Seahawks CBs Marcus Trufant, Josh Wilson and Kelly Jennings

Bruce has 350 receiving yards this season, but 153 of them came in a Week 2 victory over the Seahawks. He made some huge plays in the first meeting, including a 63-yard reception against Trufant. It’s likely the Niners will go to him again Sunday. Jennings has struggled so much that he was benched, but he still plays in nickel situations. Wilson has had slightly more success as the starter, but he’s tested often. The veteran Bruce’s success in a September game means he should see plenty of action in the clutch and attention from the defense.

49ers QB J.T. O’Sullivan vs. Seahawks pass defense

O’Sullivan has struggled keeping a handle on the football, with 12 turnovers in the past four games. While the Seahawks are likely to again be geared toward slowing down Gore, O’Sullivan has a chance to put up some yards against the Seahawks. When the teams met earlier this season, O’Sullivan completed 20 of his 32 passes for 321 yards and a touchdown. He was also sacked eight times in that meeting.

Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace vs. 49ers pass defense

If quarterback Matt Hasselbeck (back) can’t play this week – coach Mike Holmgren is still holding out hope – Wallace will try to improve on last week’s 73-yard performance. If Hasselbeck can play, he’ll be fighting off rust and a bulging disk. It might be a good week for the 49ers’ pass rush to get at Seattle’s signal caller.
