Seahawks Add Veteran DL Carlos Dunlap in Deal with Bengals

In a move that could have been considered a shock to many, the Seahawks finally added some beef to their defensive line, grabbing Cincinnati Bengals all-time sack leader Carlos Dunlap.

The Hawks sent back to the Bengals offensive lineman B.J. Finney and a seventh-round pick in the 2021 NFL draft.

The trade won’t be official until after 4pm EST today.

Seattle, who enter this weekend with a mark of 5-1, are still having major issues on defense, having allowed the most yards of any team through six games in NFL history.

Their defense continued to have problems Sunday night as they seemed to have their prime-time game against the Arizona Cardinals in hand, only to allow Cards QB Kyler Murray and the team to do enough to rally to eventually win the game in overtime.

The Hawks were not credited with an official hit on Murray during the three-point loss, reason enough for Seattle to pull the trigger on bringing in Dunlap.

The 31-year-old Dunlap had two more seasons left on the contract extension he inked a few years back. He had been getting more and more frustrated with the coaching staff as well as his role on the team.

In 11 seasons he put up 82.5 sacks, and should be able to add a big piece to the defensive line.

Currently L.J. Collier is listed as the starter at the left defensive end spot that Dunlap will take over once he arrives.

Collier this season has just seven total tackles to go along with one sack in the Hawks 3-4 base defense.
