Seahawks Acquire Safety Quandre Diggs from the Detroit Lions

The Seattle Seahawks have been looking for another piece to add to their defensive secondary, and they may have answered that question on Tuesday in a deal with the Detroit Lions.

It’s hard to have seen coming a deal between the Seahawks and Lions, but using a bet365 bonus you could have jumped in on the action which saw Lions starting safety Quandre Diggs get shipped from the Motor City to the home of the ’12th Man.’

The trade to get Diggs to the Seahawks will cost them a reported 2020 fifth-round pick, this coming from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero on Tuesday. Detriot later confirmed the swap.

So how good is Diggs and can he help out this secondary right away?

He’s had flashes over his early NFL career, which is seeing him right now play in his 3rd season after signing a five-year deal with the Lions when he was drafted.

This season Diggs had started five of six games. The safety missed their Week 6 loss to the Green Bay Packers with a hamstring injury. He played 55 snaps in his return Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

It’s hard to think that the coaches won’t think that Diggs will not be up to speed and ready to play Sunday when the Seahawks play in Atlanta against the Falcons.

Diggs joins a young Hawks secondary that is starting to look like it could be a huge force in the NFC West and in the Conference overall.

The Hawks secondary features rising talents in Shaquill Griffin, Tre Flowers, Marquise Blair, Tedric Thompson and Bradley McDougald.

In a very classy move, Diggs put out on social media a heartfelt ‘good-bye’ when it became official that he was being moved from Detroit to Seattle.

Here’s what he had to say about the move.

To all my former teammates I love you guys and it was a pleasure going to battle with y’all! Made friendships that will last forever! Thank you also to the Ford family for the hospitality and drafting a 22 year old kid from Angleton, TX! Lions fans I love you guys from the bottom of my heart you guys deserve the best, made me feel at home and kept the stadium rocking!

He will get plenty of chances early to prove his worth with the Hawks secondary, but by in large Seattle liked what they saw enough to make the move and give up the 2020 fifth-round pick.
