Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll Excited to Have a Healthy C.J. Prosise This Offseason

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll says it has been “great” to see running back C.J. Prosise healthy this offseason according to John Boyle of seahawks.com.

A third-round pick out of Notre Dame in 2016, Prosise showed some promise particularly as a receiver out of the backfield during his rookie season but injuries have cost him most of his career up to this point.

He has been able to suit up for only 10 games the past two seasons while battling abdominal, ankle, and hip injuries. “To add him into the competition is really nice,” said Carroll. “We’re fired up about C.J. being back.”

That praise from his head coach doesn’t necessarily mean the 25-year-old Prosise will survive final roster cuts.

Many observers believe he will be the odd man out in the Seattle backfield, with veteran Chris Carson and last year’s first-round pick Rashad Penny seeing most of the carries and J.D. McKissic possibly being kept over Prosise due to his value on special teams. Releasing Prosise would save $475K in cap space.
