Seahawks Hire Larry Izzo as New Assistant Special Teams Coach

As New England prepares for Super Bowl LII, a member of three previous Patriots championship teams has landed a new NFL coaching job.

A source told Alex Marvez of the Sporting News that Larry Izzo is being hired as Seattle’s new assistant special teams coach.

Izzo, 43, was a special teams standout during his 14 NFL seasons, eight of which were spent with the Patriots (2001-08). He branched into coaching shortly after his retirement, landing a spot as New York’s assistant special teams coach from 2011-15.

Izzo was hired as Houston’s special teams coach in 2016, but he was fired earlier this month after the unit had experienced two rough seasons under his watch.
