Pete Carroll is using his team’s off-day to try out legendary free agent WR Terrell Owens. I didn’t think he planned on filling the roster spot left by Bryant with a kicker for too long, having acquired K Carson Wiggs yesterday.
The truth is, Owens may need to work harder at acing the interview than he would the workout. If his workout is going to determine his employment, I am certain he will get the job. He always stays in shape. He did end up being a good mentor for Miles Austin in Dallas and Steve Johnson in Buffalo.
Carroll have his old USC WR Mike Williams a chance, and he ended up catching a 38-yard touchdown pass in one of the biggest postseason upsets in NFL history, when the 7-9 ‘Hawks beat the reigning Super Bowl Champion Saints 41-36. He also recently signed Antonio Bryant and Braylon Edwards.
Pete Carroll was defensive coordinator for San Francisco during Terrell Owens’ 1996 rookie season.
