Hawks Bring Back CB Marcus Trufant

The Seahawks have brought back CB Marcus Trufant, who had been released for salary cap purposes on March 7.

Reports say it’s a one-year deal. He was the 11th overall pick of the 2003 NFL Draft, and has 610 tackles, two sacks and 21 interceptions with 100 passes defensed during his nine seasons with the Seahawks, earning Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors following the 2007 season.

That season also earned Trufant a six-year, $50.2 million contract extension that was scheduled to pay him $7.3 million in total compensation this season.

The 31-year-old Trufant finished 2011 on injured reserve with a back injury anad will compete for a nickel corner role with the Seahawks, who are projected to start 2011 Pro Bowler Brandon Browner and 2011 fifth round pick Richard Sherman on the outside next season.
