Seahawks Nab Free Agent QB Matt Flynn for 3 Yrs, $26 Million

The second biggest free agent QB on the market is off it.

The Seattle Seahawks have come to terms with free agent quarterback Matt Flynn, this according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Reports say the deal is worth $26 million with $10 million guaranteed for three seasons.

The former Packers QB had spoken with the Dolphins, and many had him penciled in as the team he would go to with former OC Joe Philbin now the new head coach in Miami.

Instead he will be the new starter under coach Pete Caroll, who last season had to sit through Tarvaris Jackson as his starter for 14 games, and Charlie Whitehurst for the other two.

Flynn last year in spot duty for Aaron Rodgers threw for 518 yards with 6 TD’s and two picks. He had a Packers record 480 yards with 6 TD’s and a pick in the regular season finale vs the Lions.

    HELL YEAH!

great signing right here i think flynn will do well.

much better option than alex smith IMHO although smith had a great season last year.

i think flynn will step up to the plate! cant wait for the 2012 season 🙂

I agree Cory! I am so happy we got a new Matt, that is Matt Flynn.
Though Tavaris was okay, he did not lead the team to come back victories nor put up big numbers. What Flynn did, in albeit 2 starts, was so impressive especially last year’s record setting 6TDs 480 yds. You have to have some great ability to put up those numbers in the NFL. I know the Lions were playing to win to avoid playing the Saints in the 1st rd.

Now I hope we can add a pass rusher(maybe D. Freeney or thru draft) and another LB.

Trust me, Seattle will be in the playoffs next year and very soon in the Superbowl for their first Win in the big game.
    Seahawks FLY with Flynn!!

That deals seems to be making sense, especially when you compare it to what’s been thrown around this season and last year (Kolb).

He’s unproven, yes, but you’re not taking a huge risk money wise.

    Good luck to him.
