Cortez Kennedy – 2012 Pro Football Hall of Famer

The NFL announced their class for the Pro Football Hall of Fame today, and Seahawks great Cortez Kennedy is heading into the hall in August.

Kennedy played with the Hawks from 1990 to 2000, and was one of the most dominant defensive lineman in the last 30 years.

A first-round pick out of Miami whose talent prompted the Seahawks to move from the 3-4 to a 4-3 defense, Kennedy spent his entire 11-year career with the Seahawks, earning eight trips to the Pro Bowl and NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors in 1992, despite his team’s dismal 2-14 record.

Kennedy honored his friend Jerome Brown, who passed away in a car accident, by wearing his No. 99 during the 1992 season. Brown would have turned 47 years old today.
