Seahawks Scott McCloughan: Were Going to Beat the Hell Out of the 49ers

Well Scott, tell us how you really feel.

Former 49ers GM Scott McCloughan must be gleaming inside after seeing the talent he brought to the Bay Area manifest itself into the closest version of the 2005 Seahawks and 1999 St. Louis Rams the NFC West has seen in years.

On the subject of playing his former team and all that talent he helped acummulate, and he hardly minced words with Yahoo! Sports Michael Silver:

They come to our place Christmas Eve,” McCloughan says laughing of the 11-3 Niners, “and we’re going to beat the hell out of ‘em.

This has been a common theme for the streaking Seahawks, who if it wasn’t for what appears to be a fatal slip up against the Washington Redskins, would be winners of 7 games in a row and owners of the leagues longest active win streak. As it stands Seattle is tied with Green Bay for the best recent stretch of games (6 out of 7).

For as dim as their playoff hopes remain, in part because of the Packers slip up against the Chiefs, I can’t recall a time since around 2006 when I fully expected this team to march out and win every game they play, 10 AM start, road game, snow, heat, whatever.

I do right now though, and it’s rarely that I buy into someone giving blatant bulliten board material for the opposition.

But seriously, I don’t think the 49ers see what’s coming to them on Christmas Eve, I expect a wiping of the field and Marshawn Lynch should be grabbing his chestnuts while beasting his way into the endzone for the first time against this 49ers defense this season.

Unfortunately it means nothing in the long run, and all of this winning isn’t going to feel good when the result is a missed postseason and having to trade a bounty to move up in the draft for one of the trio of quarterbacks expected to have top 10 draft grades when any team the Seahawks will be dealing with knows full well why and who they are targeting in any move up the draft.

Don’t say I told ya so… Well nevermind, I never understood that saying, DO say I told you so.
