A Recap At What Helped & Hurt Seahawks During Sunday Action

At 5-7 in an NFC chalk full of games right around Seattles 5-7 record battling for playoff spots, some good and bad things happened as a result of the action from Sunday

The Falcons beat the Panthers, which is bad because they now sit at 8-5 with a tiebreaker over the Seahawks.

The Lions beat the Vikings, which is also bad because they also now sit at 5.

Those two teams with a victory against the Rams would still be a full two games up on the Seahawks with three games left to play.

In other words, the Falcons would have to lose out and the Seahawks win out to overtake them in the standings. The Seahawks would have to win an additional 2 of 3 after a Rams victory with the Lions losing 2 out of 3.

The Cardinals also won, which pushes their record to 6-7, if Seattle wins against the Rams, they still hold the tiebreaker.

The Giants also won, which wasn’t a good thing, even though Seattle holds the tiebreaker, they will be a game behind with their record at 7-6.

Not everything went absolutely terrible, a couple good things happened.

The Denver Tebows beat the Bears (which I did say I fully expected to happen), which makes next weeks matchup at Soldier Field literally a do or die for both the Bears and Seahawks. With a Rams and Bears victory, the Seahawks would be 7-7, and the Bears would fall to 7-7 with Seattle holding the tiebreaker.

In reality, things didn’t go fantastic regardless of the outcome of tomorrows Monday night matchup. The Falcons victory pretty much only leaves the Lions 6th and last spot vulnerable to the point the Seahawks could sneak their way in.

They have to overtake not only Detroit, but Chicago, Dallas, and make sure those pesky Cardinals don’t ruin things for them either.

Well if they lose to Arizona, their screwed anyway.

If they lose any game at this point, the playoff door will close.

Their playoffs start tonight against the Rams on primetime television, just like last season.
