Russell Okung fined $7,500

Seahawks left tackle Russell Okung has been fined $7,500 for an unnecessary roughness penalty in the second quarter of the team’s 24-7 win over the Rams, a league spokesman confirmed on Friday.

On a 1st-and-10 play from the Rams’ 27-yard line, Okung cleared Rams linebacker Brady Poppinga from the pile following a one-yard run by Marshawn Lynch. The 15-yard penalty was marked off after the run, taking the Seahawks out of field goal range when the score was tied at seven. Okung’s penalty was followed by an eight-yard loss on a quarterback sack and, after an incomplete pass to Ben Obomanu, the Seahawks were forced to punt.
