Report: Seahawks to start Whitehurst at QB on Sunday against Browns

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll expects Charlie Whitehurst to get the starting nod in Cleveland on Sunday, Bill Swartz of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.

“Charlie’s ready to go, and as far as I’m concerned he’s starting the football game, unless something turns with Tarvaris (Jackson) here in the next couple days,” Carroll said during an appearance on Seattle radio station 97.3 KIRO FM.

Jackson strained a pectoral muscle in the third quarter of the team’s 36-25 victory over the Giants in Week 5.

Whitehurst replaced Jackson, completing 11-of-19 pass attempts for 149 yards and a 27-yard touchdown to rookie wideout Doug Baldwin to put the ‘Hawks in front with less than three minutes remaining in the game.

Though Jackson had a bye week to recuperate, he has been a limited participant in practice, with the Clemson product Whitehurst taking the first-team snaps.
