Seahawks ready to trade LB Curry?

The Seahawks are open to dealing linebacker Aaron Curry, Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports.

Seattle’s previous front office/coaching staff used the fourth overall pick of the 2009 NFL Draft on the Wake Forest alum, who signed a six-year, $60.068 million contract that included $34.01 million in guaranteed cash.

Curry started 30 of his first 32 contests, recording 145 stops, 5.5 quarterback sacks and eight passes defensed before he was benched last week in favor of 2011 fourth-round pick (Mississippi State) K.J. Wright.

Earlier in the week, the former Demon Deacon ruffled some back hairs with his comments via Twitter before proclaiming himself content with his demotion and was adamant on earning his starting gig back.

Last month, Curry agreed to a renegotiated contract, voiding the final two years of the deal to hit free agency sooner in exchange for voiding the guarantee from the $5.7575 million base salary he is due in 2012. Curry’s $5,076,250 salary this season remains promised.

La Canfora adds that the Seahawks have not yet dangled the 6-foot-2, 254-pound linebacker around the league.
