A Dream Scenario: Seahawks to Sign Leonard Davis?

The title is probably going to get misconstrued by some, so let me preface this by saying… No, I am not “dreaming” that the Seahawks sign Leonard Davis. Certainly, with their protection woes during the pre-season they could certainly use a capable starting caliber player but I am not clamoring for them to sign him.

By all means, he is, I guess, a “name”. He was a top 10 guard several years back and has been to the pro bowl and been a starter for awhile. That being said, his best days are behind him and there are reasons why even the veteran loving Cowboys parted ways with him and he has not been signed to this point.

Anyway, during a dream last night I clearly remember seeing some sort of news flash or something on the television about the Seahawks signing Davis. The thing that won’t happen is the fact it was for 5 years (which even in the dream I thought was odd.. Are we in Inception here?), but nonetheless, it would very interesting to see if they signed him or recently released Andre Gurode in the coming days, or any Cowboys offensive lineman of note.

If it does happen, well, by a stroke of luck you heard it here first! It does go against the Carroll philosophy of getting younger, but even during a youth movement you still need veteran leadership and I don’t believe there is a Seahawk over the age of 30 on the active roster.

Davis, 33, would not detriment an overall youth movement and given the fact Tyler Polumbus is the best backup lineman they have, I wouldn’t rule it as being completely implausible. If you take Robert Gallery out of the equation, the other four offensive lineman have a grand total of 27 starts amongst them; long story short, they could use some veteran depth.
