Mood Changer? Seahawks to Release Lofa Tatupu

This is a tough article for me to write, as a die hard fan, a Tatupu fan, and an admirer of what he has done for the Seattle Seahawks franchise, so I will make it brief.

After John Schneider and Pete Carroll asked the veteran to restructure his contract, Lofa Tatupu promptly asked for his release from the team. The team now plans to do so on a reluctant basis according to sources.

This one truly baffles me, Tatupu has been slowed by some creaky knees but he is still a very effective player. He was scheduled to make a modest $4 million this season; a season Seattle still has at least $25 million in cap room for.

Two mood changing roster moves have hit the 12th Man this off season; this one though, I don’t think any of us saw coming.

As Mike Sando said, “this move makes sense if you take emotion out of it” or whatever, but I don’t think many 12th Men and Women will be taking the emotion out of it.

Tatupu you will be missed.

More on the back story to this one later on, (you’ll see why Lofa got ticked off) the only reason I am up right now and happened to catch this was amidst dealing with some family drama, now I will try and get a couple hours of sleep.

Tuff day. Lets just hope Sneider and Carol know what there doing. I get the fact the hawks are rebuilding but you need leaders to teach. If this team goes south like I think it will due to no defense and No QB, Carol and Sneider will have no good will built up and will be ridden out.
