Seahawks Interested In Jonathan Joseph?

Well it’s not Nnamdi Asomuagha, but it’s the next best thing.

According to John Clayton of ESPN he expects the Seahawks to pursue the star cornerback with their flush cash resources and very poor secondary play the last couple of seasons.

He predicts, and I concur, that his market value will be in the $8 million range, and while Asomuagha’s the better player, he is also four years older and will command  something in the neighborhood of nearly double what Joseph will cost.

As Clayton put it:

“He would leave Cincinnati for a dollar more than the Bengals are offering”

This would be a fantastic signing, not only finally pushing first round bust Kelly Jennings out the door (or at least out of a starting spot), but it would actually allow them to put Trufant at the second corner position.

If the Seahawks can’t nab Nnamdi and strike out on Joseph, the market offers plenty of starting caliber players:

Brent Grimes

Ike Taylor

Antonio Cromartie

Carlos Rogers

Josh Wilson

Richard Marshall

Eric Wright

When it’s all said and done, I fully expect Seattle to come away with one of the names mentioned in this article and would not be surprised to see them land a Joseph/Marshall combo either.

Talk about exaggeration. Don’t you think that title is a little misleading?
