Breakdown of the Third Day of the Draft for the Seahawks

NFL.com breaks down day three for the Hawks, and gives their take on some background on the players the team picked.

Round 4, Pick 2 (99) (From Broncos through Patriots) K.J. Wright LB 6’3″ 246 Mississippi St. 5.1

Pick Analysis: Pete Carroll takes a flyer on a rangy athlete with the selection of Wright. He brings some rush skills to the table and has the explosiveness to be an effective chase player on the backside. He also provides some much-needed speed to their special teams unit.

Round 4, Pick 10 (107) (From Lions) Kris Durham WR 214 Georgia 3.4

Pick Analysis: He is a rangy receiver with size and sneaky receiving skills. He took advantage of A.J. Green’s early season absence to showcase his underrated ability. He gives Pete Carroll another hybrid player to throw into their receiving corps.

Round 5, Pick 23 (154) (From Chiefs through Lions) Richard Sherman DB 6’3″ 195 Stanford 2.5

Pick Analysis: Pete Carroll grabs an intriguing athlete in Sherman. He is a former receiver-turned-cornerback with ideal physical attributes. Although he is an unfinished product, he has the potential to develop into a quality backup.

Round 5, Pick 25 (156) Mark Legree FS 6’0″ 210 Appalachian St. 3.6

Pick Analysis: The Seahawks’ secondary continues to add athletic defenders with ball skills throughout the draft. LeGree will compete for playing time as a sub-defender/special teamer in their lineup.

Round 6, Pick 8 (173) (From Lions) Byron Maxwell DB 6’0″ 202 Clemson 2.9

Pick Analysis: Maxwell can contribute on special teams, but he’ll have to work hard to fit into the Seahawks’ secondary.

Round 7, Pick 2 (205) (From Broncos through Lions) Lazarius Levingston DL 6’4″ 292 LSU 2.0

Pick Analysis: The Seahawks opt to select Levingston, who will have to show some solid improvement to make the team.

Round 7, Pick 39 (242) (Compensatory Selection) Malcolm Smith OLB 6’1″ 225 USC
