Hawks and Hasselbeck Having Good Talks About Coming Back

Despite their 7-9 record, the Seahawks managed to win the NFC West in 2010. But they’ll have to solidify the quarterback position if they want to repeat in 2011. Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, 35, just completed his 10th year in the Emerald City and was stellar in Seattle’s wild-card upset of the New Orleans Saints but his contract expired, and his play has largely declined amid injuries since 2007, his last Pro Bowl season. “We’re having a great dialogue, Matt’s Mr. Seattle,” Seahawks GM John Schneider said at the NFL scouting combine Friday when asked about the state of negotiations with Hasselbeck. “You’ve heard me say before the coach and quarterback are the most important people in the building.”
