Seahawks Head to Bay Area to Face 49ers on Sunday

Tied with the St. Louis Rams at 6-6 in the NFC West, Seattle travels to San Francisco for an important division game this Sunday. The game is slated to kick off at 1:05 p.m. (PT) and will be televised on FOX (channel 13 in Seattle) and broadcast on 97.3 FM and 710 ESPN Radio in Seattle. Calling the game on FOX will be Thom Brennaman and Brian Billick for the third time this season, and Billick’s fifth time on the year.

This week’s game against the 49ers will mark the 24th time the two clubs have squared off in the regular season, with Seattle holding a 13-10 series edge. Seattle has won 11 of the last 15, and five of the last seven meetings.

The last time these two met was on Kickoff Weekend on September 12 in Qwest Field. The Seahawks used a seven-minute scoring barrage where they scored four touchdowns to end the first-half and open the second-half, en route to a 31-6 win to begin the Pete Carroll era. The Seahawks defense limited 49ers Frank Gore to 38 yards on 17 carries and allowed San Francisco to convert just one of 15 third-down conversion attempts.

Seattle currently sits in second place, behind St. Louis, by virtue of the tiebreak in the NFC West. The two close the season on January 2, 2011, in Seattle. San Francisco is two games back at 4-8, with Arizona holding a 3-9 record.

Matt Hasselbeck is just one win shy of tying Dave Krieg as Seattle’s alltime winningest quarterback. Krieg won 70 games from 1981-90.
