Carroll Pumped About the D-Line Coming Together

CBS Sports reports that coach Pete Carroll likes what he sees so far from the Seahawks D-line:

First-year Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has been impressed in training camp with the starting defensive line of Red Bryant, Colin Cole, Brandon Mebane and Chris Clemons. “I really like what’s going on up front with the first defense,” Carroll told seattlepi.com.

“Those guys are playing together really nicely at this point. We’ve done some things different scheme-wise to match up with our personnel. We’re kind of liking what’s going on there, but we’ll see when we go up against someone else.”

Seattle ranked in the bottom 10 of defense in 2009, allowing 356.4 yards per game. The passing defense was a huge problem, allowing 245.4 yards per game (30th in the NFL), as Seattle couldn’t get much pressure on the QB — totaling just 28 sacks. The defensive line is one of the areas Seattle needs great improvement from heading into 2010.
