Seahawks Close Out 2009 With Tennessee

The Seattle Seahawks close out 2009 at home against the Tennessee Titans this Sunday. Kickoff is slated for 1:15 pm (PT) and will be televised on CBS (channel 7 in Seattle) and News Talk 97.3 KIRO FM and on 710 ESPN Radio in Seattle.

Seattle wrapped up its road schedule with a 1-7 mark after dropping a 48-10 decision in Green Bay in Week 16. The Seahawks look to improve their home mark to 5-3 this week.

This week’s game marks the 14th time the two teams have played each other, with Seattle holding a 9-4 lead. Tennessee transferred from Houston in 1997 and changed its name from the Oilers to the Titans in 1999. Since that move, the two have only matched up once, on December 18, 2005. In that game, Seattle had a key fourth-down stop and then drove 93 yards in 13 plays for the go-ahead score mid-way through the fourth quarter after trailing by 10 points in the second half.

Seattle’s last trip to Houston to face the Oilers was on December 11, 1994. The Seahawks won that game, 16-14. Seattle was 2-4 all-time in games played in Houston vs. the Oilers, including playoffs.
