It looks like recently released LB Leroy Hill may have no choice but to make a return to the Seahawks. The Hawks let him go a few days ago, and John Clayton of ESPN reports that so far there has not been a ton of people looking for his services:
The Seahawks took a big gamble by releasing linebacker Leroy Hill from his franchise tag, but they might get away with it. The teams that run the 3-4 defense might not be willing to pay the $6 million plus premium to acquire Hill. The most logical 3-4 teams are the Saints and Bucs. Both teams have needs for an outside linebacker, but the Saints are reasonably tight against the salary cap. Hill is one of the best linebackers, but this hard hitter doesn’t get the big national attention. Through the process of pulling the tag, the Seahawks kept trying to negotiate a contract with him.
Even though it does not mention it there, I would be willing to gamble that he may finally get a deal done with the Hawks to return to Seattle for the 2009 season.
