Seahawks Slammed in New York by Champion Giants 44-6

In case you were wondering if all would be well after the bye week for the Seahawks – don’t hold your breath.  Sunday at the Meadowlands the Hawks basically didn’t show up, as they were totally outplayed and dominated by the World Champion Giants 44-6.  The Hawks showed little on offense, and even less on defense.  It was a ‘slap in your face’ type of outing that right now would be winless if it were not for the St.Louis Rams.

Nothing went right all day for Seattle.  They were down 14-3 about 11 minutes into the game, and by then you could tell it was going to be a struggle just to hang with New York.  After two more John Carney field goals and a Brandon Jacobs one-yard plunge, the Hawks were down 27-3 with less than a minute to go in the first half.  Olindo Mare did kick a 29-yard field goal to make it look as if the team was in the game at 27-6 at the half.

It made no difference, as Eli Manning, who went 19-for-25 for 267 yards with two TD’s for New York, threw another TD in the third, this time 23 yards to Sinorice Moss to make it 34-6.  Backup David Carr ended the awful day for Seattle, as even he threw a TD with 9:25 left in the game to Moss to make it 44-6.
The numbers speak for themselves.  They were outgained 523 to 187.  They went 1-for-11 on third downs, had just 13 first downs (4 on penalites), and had the ball just 23:32.  Simply put, there is something wrong with the team right now, and if Mike Holmgren and the staff does not get it right, repeating as NFC West Champs is going to be a tough task.

Matt Hasselbeck played on a hyperextended right knee after the 4th play, and went 11-for-21 for 105 yards with one pick and a QB rating of 46.7.  Juilus Jones may have been the only bright spot, rushing 17 times for 61 yards, and earning every inch.  Seattle (1-3) will limp home to take on the equally as struggling 2-3 Green Bay Packers next Sunday.
