Trufant Named Franchise Player
Posted by Matt Loede on February 21st, 2008 filed in MainThe Seahawks designated cornerback Marcus Trufant as their franchise player Wednesday. The team made the move after failing to agree on a contract during last minute talks. He will receive a one year salary that is the average of the top five players at his position in the league. That means he’ll receive almost $9.5-million this season. Trufant can sign an offer sheet with another team but the Hawks would have the option to either match or receive two first-round draft choices as compensation.
