Free Agent to Be Faneca Would be a Great Fit for Seattle
Posted by Matt Loede on January 9th, 2008 filed in OpinionsWith it being almost as sure as day that All-Pro guard Alan Faneca is leaving the Steelers via free agency, Seattle Times’ writer Jose Romero says that the Hawks should take a long look at bringing the guard to the Northwest. The premise behind brining to Faneca, who is going to command top dollar on the open market, is that the Hawks have an O-line that needs upgraded, and one that simply could not get the job done this past season running the football. They have young, inexperienced Rob Sims at left guard aging Chris Gray at right guard. Plus there is the fact that Faneca, in a pinch, can play tackle. He would cost a lot, but would from the word go be a huge upgrade at the guard spot right now for Seattle.
