Retired Seahawk Undergoes Surgery

Retired Seahawk Mack Strong underwent neck fusion surgery on Sunday.  Strong retired from the game after he herniated discs in his neck in Week Five.  According to the “Seattle Post-Intelligencer,” it was originally thought surgery wouldn’t be needed, but Strong was suffering from neck pain on Friday and doctors determined he had herniated his neck further.  The surgery was needed to protect the integrity of the spinal chord.  The herniated discs were removed at Harborview Medical Center and the third and fourth cervical vertebrae were fused.  He should be discharged today.
