Offense Stopped Cold in 21-0 Shutout Loss to Steelers

Quarterbacks Matt Hassellbeck, left, and Seneca Wallace sit on the benchs as time runs down in the fourth quarter

On a day when nothing went right, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger finished the day 18-of-22 for 206 yards and a touchdown as the Steelers shutout the Seahawks 21-0 at Heinz Field.  It’s the first shutout the Hawks have suffered since the 2000 season.  Najeh Davenport ran in for a pair of scores for Pittsburgh, which improves to 4-and-1.  Willie Parker rushed for 102 yards, while Heath Miller had a touchdown grab in the win.  Matt Hasselbeck threw for only 116 yards with an interception for Seattle, which slips to 3-and-2.  Shaun Alexander picked up only 25 yards on the ground in defeat.  The Seahawks were limited to 144 yards of total offense in the loss.  “This reminded me of last year, going against Chicago and getting it handed to us,” Hawks coach Mike Holmgren said of last season’s 37-6 loss at Soldier Field. “For those guys on (our) team that didn’t realize what you need to do to compete against a team like this, a good football team, they learned it today.”  Seattle returns home in Week Six to host the New Orleans Saints Sunday night on NBC.
