Holmgren Defends Alexander

Seahawks head coach Mike Holmgren says fans shouldn’t put the blame on Shaun Alexander alone for Sunday’s devastating fumble against the Cardinals. Holmgren says he reviewed tapes and listened to Alexander’s explanation and has decided it wasn’t his fault. The coach says blame for the fumble that cost the Hawks a chance to win seems to fall on a dummy audible called by quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, which not all of the team caught. Alexander thought it was a pass play and the block wasn’t in place for the route he was running. Holmgren says the dummy audible should never have been used in a noisy situation within the two-minute warning.
