Hawks Kickoff Season with 20-6 Beating of Bucs

Shaun Alexander carried the ball 27 times for 105 yards and a touchdown, powering the Seahawks to a 20-6 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Seattle. Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck connected on 17-of-24 spirals for more than 220 yards, including a fourth-quarter scoring strike to Maurice Morris. Despite suffering an apparent head injury, veteran QB Jeff Garcia completed 19-of-27 passes for over 200 yards in his debut for the Bucs. Former Seahawks’ speedster Joey Galloway snagged five passes for 72 yards in the loss for Tampa. The Hawks are on the road next wee at Arizona to take on the Cardinals at 1:00 p.m.
