Brown and Seahawks Fail to Reach Long Term Deal

The Seahawks and kicker Josh Brown were unable to come to terms on Monday before the deadline to sign franchise players, meaning that Brown will play this season with a salary of $2.078 million. That was the amount of the franchise tender that Brown signed a few months back. By not signing by the deadline, Brown and the team can no longer go forward with a long term deal until early next offseason. The Hawks at that time could either franchise Brown again if they choose, or he can become a free agent if he cannot be signed.
Since Brown has already signed the franchise tender, he is expected to be at Hawks camp when vets report on July 28th in Kirkland. Brown has been clutch for the past four seasons for Seattle, last season he was 25-for-31 overall in field goal attempts, and overall is 88-for-111 for 79.3 percent in his time with the Hawks. He has also only missed one extra point in his four years with the team (180-181).
